This month I am celebrating my First Anniversary of launching this club! It has been a great ride and I thank you for your support. Year Two will be one for you to remember and this month, I called in a favor to get you two particular cigars that, quite frankly, are sold out in most places. The CAO 2021 Amazon Basin and the CAO Fuma Em Corda. I also included a cigar that I enjoy which was in my first pack, Oscar Valladares SuperFly. I followed that up with the amazing 80th Anniversary cigar from Nestor Miranda. Lastly, I decided to throw a curveball your way by including Battleground Cigars Lincoln Bourbon.

Let's dive into this month's subscription box!

CAO 2021 Amazon Basin - Toro

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra

Binder: Nicaraguan  Brazilian Braganca, Columbian, Dominican

Filler: Brazilian Braganca, Columbian, Dominican

CAO Amazon Basin tastes as exotic as the tropical landscape from which it originated. Grown in a remote region in the Amazon Rainforest, Amazon Basin uses a rare tobacco called Braganca that is organically grown on unspoiled tropical land and only harvested once every three years. This Braganca leaf is masterfully blended with tobaccos from five different countries giving you a smoking experience unlike any other.

CAO Fuma Em Corda - Robusto

Wrapper: Honduran Corojo

Binder: Cameroon

Filler: Brazilian, Honduran, Nicaraguan

CAO Fuma Em Corda Robusto is the latest in the highly successful CAO Amazon Basin series launched in 2014. This brand contains a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan long fillers, but most excitingly, a blend of Brazilian Arapiraca and Braganca tobaccos. The Arapiraca tobacco underwent a special process unique to the Alagoas region of Brazil that bounds the leaves with tightly wound ropes which are then left to ferment. The tobacco that results from this process is called Fuma Em Corda, the cigars’ namesake. The Braganca leaves are packed into carottes tubes to ferment for six months. This complex blend is finished with a Honduran Colorado wrapper and Cameroon binder. CAO Fuma Em Corda Robusto cigars are limited to a small production of only 3,000 boxes.

Nestor Miranda 80th Anniversary - Ruky

Wrapper - Nicaragua

Binder - Nicaragua

Filler - Nicaragua

The NM80 was created to commemorate Nestor Miranda’s 80th birthday. Only 500 boxes of three unique sizes were created for this cigar. The NM80 is a Nicaraguan puro created using material from My Father Cigar’s vast library of tobacco. The tobacco was carefully chosen with Nestor’s palate in mind. The cigar is medium-bodied, elegant, and delivers a very refined smoking experience.

Oscar Valladares Super Fly - Toro

Wrapper - San Andres

Binder - Honduran

Filler - Dominican,  Honduran,  Nicaraguan

Anyone who is familiar with the 1970s style would instantly feel a tinge of nostalgia when looking at a box of Super Fly cigars. Groovy text and plenty of purple colors on, and inside, the box immediately draw one's attention. The cigars themselves bear purple and gold labels wrapped around a dark delicious Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Inside that wrapper lies a premium mixture of fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua that produce a medium to full-bodied profile filled with notes of creamy oatmeal, leather, earthiness, cocoa, hay, nuts, and vanilla that disco across the palate, ebbing and flowing in strength throughout the duration of the burn.

Battleground Cigars Lincoln Bourbon

Wrapper - Connecticut Broadleaf

Binder - Connecticut Broadleaf

Filler - Dominican

The Battleground Bourbon Blend is crafted from a unique process that starts with the finest Connecticut-grown dark Broadleaf tobacco available. The tobacco is harvested in August and slowly air-cured in wood sheds for three months. After the tobacco leaves have been stripped, the leaves are placed in bundles that undergo a natural sweat for a period of at least one year. The leaves undergo a second six-week sweat under 140°. This process is duplicated naturally in wood cases for an additional six months. The leaves are then graded according to size & color and tied in hands. After the hands have been pulled and conditioned they are inspected again before being released to the rollers table. Once the cigars have been made they are placed in bourbon barrels to age. The oak bourbon barrels contribute a spicy note, while the maple wood bourbon barrels add an additional layer of sweetness that is noticeable in the finish. The result is a cigar with a unique depth of character & complexity. The process is a costly & time-consuming practice that delivers a cigar of exceptional complexity and smoothness.
